One of mine and Lupo’s (my boyfriend) favorite food to make is pizza! I must say, we’ve gotten pretty darn good at it. It’s just so cool to be able to make something that can have a little bit of everything you’re craving. Or it’s also something great you can cook up with leftover ingredients you have laying around in your fridge.
So let’s talk ingredients! First off, I love grocery shopping at Trader Joes so that’s where you’ll see that most of my ingredients are from. What I don’t like though is their rush hour around 6pm on a Tuesday evening because they will most likely be out of something I need. Anyway, the ingredients we decided to use for this pizza are as follows:
- 2-3 Spicy Sausage Links (I like to go for the chicken sausage to make it a tad bit healthier and pick really any flavor because their all so good). Here we used some leftover sausage links we had leftover from the 4th of July BBQ.
- 1 Container of crumbled goat cheese (Goat cheese is my favorite cheese in the world. I swear I could eat it like a bowl of cereal and be content with life –but if you’re not a weirdo like me, feel free to choose whatever cheese tickles your fancy.)
- Kale. Because why not?
- Lite shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Wheat pizza dough (there’s also herb & white dough if you want to be a dare devil –I drink too much wine so I try and watch my calories whenever I can).
- Pizza Sauce! Duh.
First thing’s first, you want to leave out your pizza dough for about an hour or so. The longer you leave it, the easier it’ll be to handle and stretch out into the perfect shape.
While you leave out your dough, you can start prepping your toppings. My sausages were already cooked but uncooked is also fine. You want to dice them up into thin slices along with your onions, and chop up your kale. Easy Peasy.
Next you get to have some fun with your dough!
Once the dough has stretched a good amount you begin adding your toppings. I like to add the sauce and mozzarella cheese first because it gives the rest of the topping something to stick onto.
Then you spread spread spread.
Then you add the rest of your toppings in no particular order.
Heat up the oven to 415 degrees and you wait about 15 minutes.
